I’ve been playing around with a new iteration of our PubMed search app. This version is geared towards discovering articles of interest right when you open up the app, so we created an autosearch feature which I tinker with behind the scenes. It’s surprisingly tough to create a random search that really “seems random,” by the way! Still figuring that out. Meanwhile, when I have time I throw in custom groups of 10 citations on a particular theme.
Here are the ones we’ve put up so far – saved here for posterity, since they come and go in the app…
Ten treats for our beta testers (“scary clown one” got the biggest reaction)
Halloween theme – this set was live, or perhaps undead, at PubSavvy Swipe’s release in the app store
Thanksgiving theme – my personal favorite holiday, probably on account of the pie
Christmas theme – yeah, again with the holidays. They are so fun to search, though! And who knew about the “Grinch effect”?
Self-improvement theme – in keeping with New Year’s resolutions, naturally
Rare Diseases Day – don’t you love that it’s on Feb 29?
